CROSSROADS IAQ/IEQ CONFERENCE SPEAKERS
The speakers list includes more than 20 nationally or regionally known industrial hygienists or other science professionals that are intensely involved with the disciplines concerning indoor air quality and indoor environmental quality issues. At this time the list of speakers is still growing. In addition business leaders, attorneys, insurance and risk management experts will be among those on this impressive roster. They will be commenting on the constantly increasing financial risk and liabilities confronting the industrial hygiene community.

DAVID H. GOETT, AFFILIATED – EHS, INC. Principal (March 2003-Present),
INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE
After earning a B. S. degree from Seton Hall University, Mr. Goett's career began in Finance with General Motors, and continued in industrial chemical applications and marketing/sales. Included in this description, was a 15 year experience in Water and Waste Water treatment and analysis. Since 1986, he has been involved with HAZMAT remediation, Asbestos program design, inspections, abatements, and Industrial Health & Safety assignments including two Nuclear Power Plant Demolition sites. Mr. Goett also has held state and national offices with a number of professional organizations. In September 2006, at the Annual International Conference of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers; Orlando Florida, he received the “Friend of the Academy Award.”
As the president of The National Alliance of Environmental Specialists Program (NAESIP), David is noted as a problem solver who finds the right balance of insurance and risk management practices to achieve optimum asset protection. After recognizing a need to help environmental contractors and consultants who work with the soil, water and air, David became the Administrator for the Alliance of Environmental Specialists (AES) in 2001. David personally handled more than 70 environmental contractors and consultants that work in this field. In addition, David is training a select group of agents and is making available NAESIP, which is proving to be the optimum product of protection for the policyholders in their respective regions.
David’s insurance career started with Aetna Insurance Company in 1985. After graduating from Aetna’s prominent property and casualty training program, David worked as an underwriter for both commercial property and casualty insurance. After serving several years as an underwriter, in 1988 David joined Bowers, Schumann & Welch as an Account Executive, and in 2000 Bowers Schumann & Welch sold to Brown & Brown, which is a public company and a nationally recognized institution. David was responsible for working with a number of joint insurance funds, accountable for underwriting and insuring schools and municipalities. In 2004 David was named the director of the Educational Risk and Insurance Consortium called ERIC West. As director David worked with New Jersey School Boards Association Insurance Group, as well as other insurance agents and Boards of Education to help promote and supply insurance products and risk management services throughout North Western New Jersey. David earned his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation in 2001. In order to earn a CIC designation one must demonstrate professional competence through a combination of experience, formal training, and a series of written examinations focusing on all major fields of insurance and management. David also received his Associates in Risk Management (ARM) designation, which requires a strong background in risk management and financing techniques. Reflecting his strong commitment to risk management issues, David has also earned his Commercial Risk Management (CRM) designation and title. Now David is focusing on the Charter Property and Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation.


ROBERT C. ADAMS, MS, CIH, CSP
Mr. Adams is a Senior Manager at ENVIRON International Corporation. He has over 25 years of experience in the environmental health, and safety (EHS) field in both the public and private sectors. He has managed a wide range of projects including occupational health and safety exposure assessments; health and safety management audits; managing multidisciplinary EHS teams in a crisis situation; litigation support and expert testimony; development of OSHA compliance programs; and development and presentation of training programs. Mr. Adams is a member of ENVIRON’s nanotechnology initiative focusing on best management practices for health and safety in the workplace.
Brent Altemose is a health and safety consultant, and he is the Principal Consultant for SABRE Health and Safety.. He holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from Penn State, an MS in Industrial Hygiene from the University of North Carolina, and is a PhD candidate in Occupational & Environmental Health at UMDNJ in New Jersey. Brent has 13 years experience as a safety engineer and industrial hygienist and is both a Certified Safety Professional and a Certified Industrial Hygienist. As a mechanical engineer and industrial hygienist, Brent has designed local exhaust ventilation systems and consulted on the design of buildings for the prevention of indoor air quality problems. He has also consulted on and executed IAQ Managements Plans, including IAQ testing, during LEED building construction.
Suzanne M. Avena is Chair of the Environmental Practice Group. She is also a member of the firm’s Finance and Real Estate Practice Group, Compliance Practice Group, as well as Managing Editor of the firm’s Environmental Bulletin.
Ms. Avena counsels in all matters of environmental law and regulatory compliance, including conducting compliance and due diligence audits, negotiating with federal and state agencies to mitigate violations and representing clients in environmental litigation. She represents parties engaged in hazardous waste cleanups, litigation related to remediation and cost recovery actions, and has particular expertise in structuring contaminated (Brownfield) commercial property transactions, including negotiating cleanup agreements, overseeing remediation contractors, drafting related contracts, facilitating development permits and forging deal-specific environmental insurance policies. Ms. Avena represents municipalities, manufacturers, real estate buyers, sellers, developers and management firms, lenders, investors, hospitals, universities, environmental contractors and consultants, and other business owners.
For five years prior to GWT, Ms. Avena was with the New York Environmental Practice at Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker, LLP. Before that, she was an attorney at AIG Environmental, serving as Director of the Contamination Property Business Production Group. Prior to AIG, Ms. Avena was Regional Director of the Environmental Risk Consulting Practice at Sedgwick (now Marsh). During law school, Ms. Avena clerked at the NYS Department of Environmental Conservation in Stonybrook, Long Island and the Environmental Crimes Unit of the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office.
Ms. Avena received her Bachelor of Science from Cornell University and her Juris Doctor degree from St. John’s University School of Law. She is admitted to the New York State Bar, Second Department and the US District Court Eastern and Southern Districts.
Peter Carkhuff has been a Sales Professional within the Indoor Air & Environmental Remediaton contracting field for over 12 years. He has worked alongside many of the top professionals within the Industry on projects both large and small. Peter has put together contracts and worked on projects involving Mechanical System Hygiene, Microbial Remediation, Structure Drying and Moisture Control services for clientele ranging from Fortune 500 clients to the residential homeowner.
Peter began a serious study of Mold Remediation Best Practices in 2002, and has yet to stop. As a result, he has a tremendously wide breadth and depth of understanding concerning the ramifications of moisture and mold. He is guided by a strong ethical desire to create value for his customers and has lobbied the Industry to police itself and place professionalism at the top of the priority list. He is also a strong proponent for the Environmental Consultants within the Industry to define, in an objective manner, the goal of Microbial Remediation projects - namely a consensus document defining the Clearance Criteria that the Remediation Contractor can use as a target for Post-Remediation Verification (PRV) purposes.
Peter has been a presenter at seminars for BOMA NJ, Lorman Associates, as well as facility managers, real estate boards and firms. He is a current member of the IAQA, the NJ Chapters of the AIHA and Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Management, as well as a long time member of the Hospital Fire Marshal's Association. He is a former member of NFPA, BOMA NJ, the Executive Hospital Engineers of New Jersey, Inc, the Hospital Engineers Association of the Delaware Valley and the Greater Philadelphia Hotel Engineer's Association. He has achieved certification as an Air System Cleaning Specialist through NADCA and as a Water Restoration Technician through IICRC. He is known on a Local, Regional and National level, both within and outside the Industry, for his commitment to excellence within the IAQ/IEQ field.
Mark S. Cleveland is Senior Environmental Underwriter at the Cherry Hill, NJ branch office. He underwrites site pollution risks, as well as environmental contractors and consultants for general liability, contractors’ pollution liability, and environmental consultants’ professional liability. Mr. Cleveland also underwrites general contractors’ pollution liability. Mr. Cleveland joined American Safety Insurance in March 2002 as a key part of the new the Cherry Hill, NJ branch office.
Mr. Cleveland has over 15 years experience in the insurance industry, including varied assignments in loss control, and over 5 years’ experience in underwriting. Prior to joining ASI, he was Sr. Environmental Consultant for RSA Surplus Lines Insurance Services, At RSA SL he executed a ground-up loss control program for the environmental division of this surplus lines insurance carrier. Prior to his tenure at RSA SL, Mr. Cleveland was Manager, Quality Assurance and Quality Control for AIG Consultants’ Environmental Management Division, where he performed over 100 site surveys at many industrial and waste management facilities.
Prior to his work with the insurance industry, Mr. Cleveland has held positions in: environmental management in wood and metal finishing and manufacturing; administration of a county-wide municipal-industrial wastewater pretreatment program; and in private consulting. Mr. Cleveland holds B.S. degrees in Environmental Science from Pennsylvania State University and in Chemical Engineering from Drexel University. He also holds an Engineer-In-Training license (1992) and in 2000 he qualified for the Certified Hazardous Materials Manger designation at the Senior Level.
Robert Dupont has been involved in the pharmaceutical and biotech industry for over forty years. Mr. Dupont attended The Newark College of Engineering (Newark Institute of Technology). He then worked for the family owned thermoplastic extrusion business for 20 years and through his own knowledge and innovation founded his own company, known as Sani-Tech®. Sani-Tech® was divided into three company divisions. The first division manufactured a sanitary piping system for high purity water. This rigid piping division revolutionized piping connections by developing a portable flange former that cut, fit and flanged sanitary rigid tubing on site. The second division was a platinum cured silicone plant that manufactured tubing, hose, hose assemblies, unitized and molded products. This division introduced the first braid and wire reinforced silicone hose to the pharmaceutical industry. The third division was flexible hose in EPDM rubber, PVC and PTFE lined hose and was responsible for an innovative Flare thru PTFE lined hose using S.I.B (Smooth Inner Bore) technology. This technology makes for a smooth continuous surface, eliminating bacteria traps and product contamination. He later sold Sani-Tech® and founded his current company, Rubber Fab Technologies Group.
Robert Dupont is an owner and C.E.O. of Rubber Fab Technologies Group since its inception twelve years ago. Rubber Fab is the leading innovator of high quality anti-microbial hygienic seals, sanitary gaskets, hose assemblies, valve, pump and filler machine components in a wide range of high purity elastomer materials for the Biopharmaceutical, Food, Dairy, Beverage, Industrial and Semi Conductor Industries. Mr. Dupont is an active member and participant of FISA, ISPE, NAHAD and he is on the elastomer specification committee of ASME BPE. Mr. Dupont’s goal is to continually raise the bar in the industry, and improve process systems through continuous innovation, while remaining customer focused.
Mr. Feury joined Langan Engineering & Environmental Services, Inc. in early 2001 as an industrial hygienist for the firm. He has over ten years of experience conducting comprehensive inspections and implementing indoor air quality (IAQ) and microbial assessment sampling programs for residential, governmental, commercial and industrial clients to ensure the adequacy of remedial and preventive measures designed to mitigate the potential for microbial growth. Brian’s projects have encompassed indoor air quality monitoring and microbial sampling, design of microbial remediation strategies and ongoing coordination with building management companies, homeowner associations and abatement contractors to ensure successful project completion with keen awareness of public health concerns.
Mr. Feury earned his Bachelor of Science Degree in Biology and Environmental Studies from Tufts University and also holds Masters Degrees in both Environmental Science and Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene from the New Jersey Institute of Technology. Mr. Feury is a Certified Industrial Hygienist with the American Board of Industrial Hygienists and is a Certified Microbial Consultant with the American Indoor Air Quality Council.
Robert M. Gerard currently serves as Executive Vice President of Business Development and Marketing at PMK Group. In that capacity, he is directly responsible for the strategic planning and business development efforts of the firm. Since 1999, Mr. Gerard has also directed the firm’s involvement with energy management and the aggregated procurement of electric and natural gas. Additionally, he has developed client-wide sustainable energy master plans that include energy efficiency, sustainable (green) building standards, greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, and energy procurement.
Mr. Gerard currently serves as a Board Member of New Jersey Alliance for Action, a Board Member of Monmouth Medical Center, former Chairman and current Board Member of Monmouth Medical Center Foundation, a Board Member of the Monmouth County Conservation Foundation, and a Board Member of the Independent College Fund of New Jersey.
CAROL GILES-BOYAR
Carol Giles-Boyar has a well-rounded background in industrial hygiene, ergonomics, training, safety, hazardous waste, life safety, and emergency management. She worked for a large, national research and development laboratory from 1990-2006, consulting firms, a multi-national oil corporation, and a large research & teaching hospital in the Chicago area in the 1980’s. She started out as a medical technologist working in a clinical lab, became the hematology lab safety officer, then the hospital’s senior safety officer. She worked on her master’s degree in Public Health while working full time. She then went to an oil corporation, consulting, then the national R&D lab. Indoor air quality complaints and investigations came with the territory. She is going to share some of her experience during her presentation.
Dr. Hague is President of Hague Associates, an environmental consulting company based in Old Bridge, New Jersey. He is a former member of the faculty of Rutgers University and Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, specializing in issues involving air toxics, environmental sampling, indoor air quality, environmental compliance and workplace safety. He is currently working on projects involving the applications of surface coating technology to public health and disease prevention.
MICHAEL HOLTON, MS, REHS, LEED AP
Mr. Holton is a project manager with the Environmental Health and Safety Department of the Hillmann Environmental Group, LLC. Mr. Holton has performed numerous inspections of mold related issues ranging from insurance claims in residential households to large water related losses in high rise buildings and hotels. His responsibilities include discovering the cause and origin of water intrusions resulting in microbial damage, determining the appropriate steps for remediation, overseeing the remediation work and evaluating clearance for re-construction. Additionally, Mr. Holton has trained staff in large hotel chains on the recognition and repair of moisture and mold related issues.
Outside of mold related tasks, Mr. Holton has been involved in a broad range of environmental health activities. He has performed worker training on asbestos awareness and hazard communication. Mr. Holton investigates indoor environmental quality concerns on a frequent basis. While a student, he was part of a team that performed exposure assessments at a superfund site. Mr. Holton received his M.S. in Environmental Health from Harvard University School of Public Health.

Joseph A. Hughes is the President of IAQ Training Institute, LLC (IAQTI) an environmental consulting, training and media corporation located in Central City, Pennsylvania. IAQTI is the largest provider of Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) certified training programs in the nation having provided indoor environmental awareness, investigation and remediation training courses for employees of over 1,000 companies. IAQTI also provides indoor environmental quality (IEQ) consulting services for a diverse clientele and produces “IAQ Radio” a weekly interactive pod-cast on IEQ, disaster restoration and building science issues.
Radio Joe is the co-host of IAQ Radio having interviewed many of the top IEQ, building science and disaster restoration experts in North America. Mr. Hughes has served on the IAQA board of directors for the past 4 years and is a member of the IE Connections Editorial Advisory Board. With over 20 years of experience as an environmental health & safety consultant and educator Joe brings a real world perspective to his courses and presentations. He has been a presenter for hundreds of associations and other organizations interested in learning about indoor environments and environmental health & safety topics. His degree from the University of Pittsburgh in Secondary Education along with years of hands-on experience are assets that ensure his presentations utilize appropriate instructional design in combination with real world examples to give audiences the best presentation for their needs.
Gregory S. Katz is the Deputy Managing Partner of the New York office of Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker LLP is a full-service law firm with clients in the United States, Latin America, Europe and Asia.. He has extensive experience in state, federal and appellate courts with an emphasis in transportation litigation, environmental litigation, general tort liability defense, public sector and municipal liability litigation, nursing home litigation, miscellaneous E&O matters, black mold litigation, labor law litigation, property and coverage. Greg has represented Risk Retention Groups, MGA’s, Captives and Purchasing Groups and has a special understanding of the regulatory aspects of doing business in the alternative market. He has worked with and represented a number of MGA’s and MGU’s. He has also worked with Insurance Carriers and MGA’s in drafting underwriting guidelines and insurance policies for new programs. Greg has been published in a host of legal and industry publications. He is on the Board of Directors for Target Markets and was formerly on the Board of Directors for the National Risk Retention Association.
Bill Kerbel is the President of Environmental Health Investigations, Inc., an Environmental Health and Safety Consulting Corporation with offices in New Jersey and New York City. Bill is certified in the comprehensive practice of Industrial Hygiene by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene. He is one of only a handful of industrial hygienists recognized by the ABIH as competent in the evaluation of indoor environments. He has conducted numerous investigations over the past thirty years and has served on several state and national committees which focus on indoor environmental quality issues.
Ms. Kero is a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Professional Engineer with over 17 years experience in the environmental industry. Veronica is responsible for company quality control as well as technical development of new business lines. Before founding Omega, she was a Senior Environmental Engineer with Corning a Fortune 500 company. Veronica is working towards completion of her doctorate degree in Environmental Engineering.
As Manager of Health Safety and Environmental Hygiene Services, Mr. Lorimer brings to PMK Group years of experience in dealing with Regulatory Compliance, Loss Prevention insurance issues related to general liability, property and casualty, and workers compensation as well as environmental health and safety compliance involving indoor air quality and Asbestos management. Mr. Lorimer currently leads the Health Safety and Environmental Hygiene discipline that provides services to both public and private entities. These services include loss prevention/safety program development and management, regulatory compliance, risk management, indoor air quality and asbestos management.
Prior to joining PMK Group, Mr. Lorimer served as Director of Risk Management/Security for Jersey Shore Medical Center where he was responsible for all components of the Medical Center’s Risk Management/Legal Affairs and insurance programs. In addition, Mr. Lorimer spent 5 years as the Assistant Director, Environmental Health and Safety Management for The George Washington University Medical Center where he provided environmental health and safety management and industrial hygiene services for the Medical Center.

Mr. Mellor has over twenty years of experience in the environmental industry as a Certified Industrial Hygienist and Director of Environmental Health and Safety. His areas of expertise include Legionella, IAQ, and environmental cleanups. Starting in 1989 Gary and Veronica have grown Omega Environmental Services into a multi-million dollar business.

Charles Morgan has almost 30 years experience in risk management consulting. He currently works for INSERVCO, a division of Penn National Insurance, serving clients throughout
Jeanne K. Perantoni, AIA, principal of SSP Architectural Group, is a recognized leader in the design of public facilities, particularly those incorporating sustainable “green” design and smart growth principles. Her pioneering work in community school planning has won recognition from the Governor’s office as the model for integrating high performance features and advanced technology with essential community functions.
She received the Council of Educational Facility Planners’ Outstanding Achievement Award for her work with New Jersey school districts, and four of her K-12 school projects have received "Excellence in Design" citations and been published in the National School Boards Association Journal, Learning by Design. She has also been recognized for higher education campus master planning, and received a Somerset County Planning Award for her work on the twenty-five year facilities master plan for Raritan Valley Community College.
In 2006, Ms. Perantoni was honored by the Somerset County Commission on the Status of Women as an Outstanding Woman of the Year in the Business Management category, and she was named one of the “Best 50 Women in Business” in New Jersey by NJBIZ Magazine in April 2006.
Jeanne is a longstanding advocate for the use of sustainable design as a means to not only save energy and reduce facility operational costs, but ultimately to improve the indoor environment enjoyed by occupants. Recognizing the clear benefits of sustainable design in the educational field, she has sought to integrate the tenets of High Performance into every facility design she undertakes. One third of the staff of the firm she leads is LEED accredited, and she has participated in the development of sustainable building design standards within SSP Architectural Group’s home county of Somerset. These standards are currently being disseminated among that County’s twenty one municipalities to guide the future development of public facilities.
Jeanne currently serves as the executive council of the RVCC Foundation Board of Directors and has completed a six year cycle as a Board member of the Somerset Valley YMCA. She is active on the Advisory Board of the New Jersey Institute of Technology’s School of Architecture and is a trustee member of the New Jersey Society of Architects Scholarship Foundation. Ms. Perantoni is a professional member of the American Institute of Architects, the New Jersey State Board of Architects, the Central Chapter of New Jersey Society of Architects, the Regional Planning Partnership, and the Construction Specification Institute. Currently residing in Princeton, Jeanne serves as chair of the Historic Preservation Review Commission for the Borough of Princeton, Vice-President of the Princeton Charter School Board of Directors, and is an Advisory Board Member of the Friends of Princeton Open Space. Ms. Perantoni holds a B.A. in Architecture and Urban Planning from Princeton University and a Masters in Architecture from Rice University.
THOMAS P. SZARAWARSKI, JR.
Mr. Szarawarski serves Morris, Johnson & Associates, Inc. (MJA) as Senior Project Engineer and is based in the mechanical design department of our Mechancial/Electrical Division. As Senior Project Engineer, he specifically serves MJA clients in all aspects of heating, ventilating and air-conditioning design including site assessment, code analysis, construction administration, energy analysis, LEED design, system modeling, system design, construction documents and written specification of equipment for various types of commercial, industrial, institutional, recreational and residential projects throughout New York and New Jersey. Mr. Szarawarski is also responsible for translating client’s requirements into efficient and cost effective mechanical and electrical system designs.
NAZMI METE TALIMCIOGLU, PH.D., P.E., CGWP
Dr. Nazmi Mete Talimcioglu joined PMK Group in October 1996 as a senior consultant to the Remedial Technology and Engineering (RTE). He is currently a Senior Associate of PMK Group and Director of Remediation Engineering. Dr. Talimcioglu has over 15 years of experience in environmental engineering applications, specializing in investigation and remediation of soil and groundwater contamination, modeling, litigation support and project management. Dr. Talimcioglu has performed numerous site and remedial investigations, field pilot studies, hydrogeologic and fate and transport modeling analyses, remedial action workplan preparation, design, implementation and operation and maintenance of remedial systems at various publicly and privately owned facilities in New Jersey. He is also an expert in hydrogeologic investigation methodologies, including subsurface hydrology modeling and aquifer characterization.
Dr. Talimcioglu designed and implemented various treatment technologies at petroleum hydrocarbon contaminated sites, including high vacuum extraction (enhanced fluid recovery), soil vapor extraction, air sparging, biosparging, bioslurping, and intrinsic bioremediation. Dr. Talimcioglu served previously as a Research Assistant Professor at the Center for Environmental Engineering of Stevens Institute of Technology. He has an extensive research and teaching experience in the areas of hydrogeology, flow through porous media, fate and transport modeling of contaminants, and groundwater engineering (design and analysis of aquifer tests). Dr. Talimcioglu has developed a two-dimensional, numerical, flow and contaminant fate and transport model for the New Jersey Department of Environment Protection (NJDEP). The objective of this model was to assist NJDEP in promulgation of the statewide soil clean-up standards. Dr. Talimcioglu has authored numerous research/consulting reports and articles in professional journals and conference proceedings. He currently teaches at Rutgers University, Department of Environmental Sciences, Bioresources Engineering Program as a Part-Time Lecturer. He is an active member of American Society of Civil Engineers and National Ground Water Association.
Dr. Wei Tang is the founder and Lab Director of QLab in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. He graduated from Cornell University with his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Soil Microbiology. Dr. Tang has over 15 years of experience in professional microbiology laboratories including Cornell Soil Microbiology Laboratory and P&K Microbiology Services, Inc. His work in the recent years is focused on microbiological analysis and research in the indoor environment. Dr. Tang has taught professional development course, presented at national conferences and written articles about sampling and analysis of microorganisms. He is also the inventor of several innovative sampling devices and analysis protocols, including MoldSense QGraph, QSponge, and Advanced Spore Count. Dr. Tang currently serves on the Indoor Air Quality Association (IAQA) Board of Directors.
Steven Temes, B.A. (Biological Sciences), MBA, IH, CMC, of AirWays Environmental Services, Red Bank, NJ, has been performing investigations of building-related health effects as a consultant to property owners and managers since 1990. Prior to entering the field of Indoor Air Quality, Steve worked in the field of organic synthetic chemical research. With a background in the physical, biological and building sciences, Steve has studied many hundreds of buildings in which occupants had expressed health complaints or concerns. He has a long, proven track record of identifying the contaminant sources that were responsible for occupant health effects and successfully recommending corrective action. Steve specializes in issues dealing with chemical and microbial hypersensitivities.
Nate Thompson is a Principal and co-owner of Environmental Management Associates, Inc. (EMA) based in Farmingdale, New Jersey. Mr. Thompson is a Certified Professional Geologist and has 20 years of experience in environmental consulting and project management. Mr. Thompson has served as Project Manager and technical liaison on environmental cleanup projects throughout the Northeast United States and Australia. Completed projects have focused on soil vapor, soil and groundwater cleanup of varying contaminants within a wide range of subsurface conditions including both LNAPL and DNAPL contamination on complex projects involving multiple aquifers and phases of contamination. Mr. Thompson has served as consultant to the construction, petroleum, petrochemical, pharmaceutical, plastics, rail, and insurance industries as well as the public sector and legal community.
Mr. Thompson has conducted numerous presentations on subsurface assessment and remediation of environmental contaminants. Publications have included several technical papers on the use of narrow diameter sampling points for subsurface site investigation. Mr. Thompson was also one of the technical contributors to the API and ASTM guidance documents on field evaluation of petroleum contaminants in soil gas, soil, and groundwater.
John Tiffany is an Industrial Hygienist and president of Tiffany-Bader Environmental since 1991. John has worked extensively in both the public and private sectors on Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) investigations. He was Technical Director for 15 IAQ courses at the MidAtlantic Environmental Hygiene Resource Center from 1992 to 2005. John was Chair of the American Industrial Hygiene Association's (AIHA) Indoor Environmental Quality Committee (1993-94), and is a member of ASHRAE (American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air Conditioning Engineers). He was AIHA's liaison to ASHRAE from 1991 to 2006 and was Chair of ASHRAE’s Environmental Health Committee [1999-2000] and a member of the Standard 62, “Ventilation for Acceptable IAQ” Committee [1998-2001].
John was also a National IAQ'92, IAQ’93, IAQ'94, and IAQ’98 Conference Steering Committee member and was a Conference Advisor for the International Indoor Air 99 in Scotland and Healthy Buildings 2000 Conference in Helsinki. He was co-chair of ASHRAE’s IAQ’2001 conference on “Moisture in Buildings”. He is a founding member of the International Society of Indoor Air Quality and Climate (ISIAQ), and was a member of the Board of Directors [2000-2003]. His academic degrees include a Masters of Science Degree in Environmental /Occupational Health from Hunter College, and a B.S. in Chemistry.

Mr. Warfield is one of the most well-respected pioneers in the IEQ industry. With over 25 years of experience including management of over 20,000 projects, he has served on industry standard committees, teaches training seminars, regularly speaks at national industry conventions, and has authored over 50 articles on IAQ, ventilation system hygiene, and mold issues. Over the past decade, he has been a national spokesperson for the ventilation cleaning industry, while serving on a variety of national committees for RIA, ASCRAE and the EPA. His expertise ranges from field application of industry standards in the area of HVAC system hygiene, use of biocides in HVAC systems, mold remediation, and causation of moisture intrusion and/or microbial contamination. He has served on industry standard committees and authored numerous articles. He has served as Chairman of ASHRAE's TC7.3 (Operation and Maintenance Management). He has served on the Board of Directors for ASCR - Association of Specialists in Cleaning and Restoration and has been President of MSHI (Mechanical Systems Hygiene Institute) as well as NADCA (National Air Duct Cleaners Association).
BARRY WEISSMAN, REM, CSP, CHMM, CHIS-IV, CIPS
Baryy Weissman is Vice President with the Hillmann Group LLC and is the Director of the Hillmann Institute of Training. He is also responsible for their Lead-Inspection Program, Industrial Services Section and Emergency Response and Planning Section.
He is a Registered Environmental Manager, Certified Safety Professional, a Diplomat of the Institute of Hazardous Materials Managers, Certified in Homeland Security at Advance Level 4, a Certified Infrastructure Protection Specialist. He holds a Batchelor of Science Degree from Delaware Valley College of Science and Agriculture in Doylestown, Pennsylvania and a Masters in Business Administration from Fairleigh Dickinson University here in New Jersey and a graduate Master Gardener with Rutgers Cooperative Extension Service.
He is a Professional Member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, a past president of the New Jersey Chapter and current Government Affair Chairman. A member of the Academy of Certified Hazardous Materials Managers and a member of the National Fire Protection Association on their Technical Committee for Recommended Practice 1620-Pre-Incident Planning.
He is a frequent presenter at many professional development conferences and has numerous articles published at SafetyXChange.com, Occupational Health & Safety Magazine and Industrial Safety and Health Magazine.
Robert West is a Certified Hazardous Materials Manager, a Register Environmental Manager, and a Certified Mold Investigator with over twenty-five (25) years of environmental engineering experience performing site assessments, remedial investigations, feasibility and treatability studies, remedial design, remedial actions (cleanups) and closures of environmentally contaminated properties and consulting with interested parties regarding building, groundwater, and soil pollution issues. His experience includes 10 years of remedial services contracting, fifteen years of environmental consulting, and hundreds of hours of classroom training and lecturing. Mr. West holds a BS in Chemistry from the University of Cincinnati. He has completed graduate work in Analytical Chemistry at Rutgers University and is currently the President of R.A. West Associates, Inc., a consulting firm specializing in property loss investigation and risk management.
